Harmony Farm Nature Quest
This quest begins at the Harmony Farm sign, which is located on the Nina Mason Pulliam Children's Trail of the Phoenix Zoo. It's a fun way to enjoy the animals at Harmony Farm. This quest was created by the 4-H Zoo Crew.
When you enter the Phoenix Zoo venture down to the Nina Mason Pulliam Children's Trail. You'll find the entrance to the trail near the elephant exhibit. Follow the trail across the bridge and turn left until you reach the entrance to Harmony Farm. Your quest begins here.
Location
Venture by the Harmony Farm sign
And the first step will turn out just fine.
Walk along the trail and look to the right
You will see a red barn come into sight.
From the welcome sign go through two posts
Then enter the red building of your hosts.
Now pass through the big red barn door
And you are all ready to explore.
Now walk to the right to the white swinging gates
Five kinds of goat breeds all seem to wait
For someone to brush them, pet them and such
Oh, how they like this very much!
Nubian, Pygmy, La Mancha, Alpine
And Nigeran Dwarfs are the goats you will find.
All the goats are a friendly bunch. Be careful or they will eat
your lunch.
Before you exit the red barn door,
We want you to see what else is in store.
A Zebu is a cow with a hump
Please don't mind all the dump.
From Southeast Asia they do come,
They don't mind heat, but they do mind gum.
It's time to leave the petting zoo.
But first there is something you must do.
Sanitize your hands and get your stuff.
I hope you had quite enough.
Climb upon the tractor and take a seat.
Imagine you are plowing before planting the wheat.
You see the silo standing so tall and white,
What's stored inside just out of sight?
Jack the horse is nineteen hands tall,
Now measure yourself to the left of the stall.
Sit on a saddle and check out the shoes.
Which one do you think Smoky would use?
You've seen zebus, goats, horses, and sheep.
You might have even seen one of them leap.
You've learned how to measure yourself like a horse.
And you've learned it from an interesting source.
Enjoy your quest!
